University residences which are generally full of first year undergraduates are a great way to adjust to living away from home and making new friends. Uni halls are usually located close to campus.
Generally offer a higher level of amenities than University Halls, at higher rents. Will be home to a more diverse mix of students and normally located close to campus.
A house share with a group of friends is often the lowest cost option and popular as the next step after living in Halls. Typically located in student friendly areas which require some travel to University.
A flat or apartment is similar to a house share on a smaller scale and will normally have one or two bedrooms. Ideal for smaller groups or couples.
Either a premium room in a Private Hall of Residence or a self-contained flat or apartment where all of the amenities are in one space. Typically the most expensive option.
A room in a house where the landlord or owner currently lives. A good option if you are not too concerned about living with other students and are budget conscious.
A self-contained room, which includes most amenities but with shared bathroom facilities.

Some of the most popular places for students in Leeds to live are:
University Area: Not officially an ‘area’ as such but tends to cover the area with the postcode L52 9 - so as close to the University of Leeds as possible. Students living here benefit from being close to both the Uni and the city centre, as well as being minutes away from the popular Hyde Park.
Woodhouse: Woodhouse is a popular area for students in Leeds as it is slap bang next to Hyde Park, and offers a lower standard of living than the University area. There are lots of pubs and places to eat here too.
Clarence Dock: The cost of housing is on the high side in Clarence Dock (also known as Leeds Dock) but it does offer students waterside living on the banks of the River Aire. It's only a ten minute walk to the city centre from here too - so you get the best of both worlds.
Beeston: On the cheaper end of the scale is Beeston, which is situated on the south side of Leeds and is popular with students due to the low housing costs. It is also close to the White Rose Centre - great if you love a bit of retail therapy.
Chapeltown: Chapeltown is popular with students attending The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and is a multo-cultural area packed full of bars, restaurants, and shops.
Don’t worry if your student accommodation is not located that close to your Uni in Leeds, there are plenty of ways to get around. The most popular way is by train, as there are a number of inner city railway stations dotted around, and the Bus is also a great option for students. You can also save loads of money by walking or biking it!
